What Our Students Are Saying

Why should you apply to the WTAMU School of Music? I could think of so many reasons but I’ll give you just three. The first one is that it’s home away from home, at WT you will feel welcomed and encouraged to be yourself constantly. You can find out who you are and what your goals really are. The second one is the amazing faculty, they are so fantastic and will support you with every step of the college journey. You will make lasting and meaningful relationships with the faculty and they will continue to push you to be the best you can possibly be. Last but not least is that WT is a place for everyone, and it’s the perfect place to find yourself and your future. A lot of people don’t know what their goals and abilities are and thanks to the school of music, the faculty, and the friends and family, they figure that out. One thing to remember is the only limit on your success is the wrong mindset.

WTAMU is a great place to get your undergraduate music degree. The faculty here are incredible; all of our music professors are highly respected in their fields, and they repeatedly express genuine care in your success and wellbeing. I was nervous that attending WT would not offer as many practicum experiences as a place like Dallas, but I have found that is not a problem. Dr. Kahler (our music therapy professor) provides diverse experiences with a variety of populations and professionals in the area. I have also found such wonderful community here at WTAMU. There are organizations for any interest you may have, as well as specific groups pertaining to your major. The Music Therapy Organization at WT is very involved with the American Music Therapy Association, and provides educational and social opportunities for incoming students. Dr. Kahler's classes will prepare you for your internship, board-certification exam, and professional life as a music therapist!
